Pampas Paradise

Photo Location: Northern California

Pampas grass during sunrise overlooking the Pacific Ocean near Trinidad, CA. Pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana) is an invasive plant in California. It was introduced to the state in the 1800s as an ornamental plant, but it has since escaped cultivation and spread to many parts of the state. Pampas grass can form dense stands that crowd out native plants and alter fire regimes.
