Easy Morning

I shot this from the dunes at Morro Bay early in the morning, just as the light was warming up along the horizon. The ice plant covering the foreground was in bloom, deep green with small pink flowers, and a sand path ran through it pointing toward Morro Rock. I set up low so that path would lead the eye back across the beach to the water. The face of the rock was catching the first warm light while the sky above it stayed cool and blue.
It's a quiet, easy scene — the California coast before the day really gets going. A print like this brings a calm, open feeling to a room, and the blooming foreground adds a bit of color that suits a coastal or contemporary space.
