Fall photography in Colorado attracts hundreds of landscape photographers and travel enthusiasts from all over the world. Depending on the weather, the color bloom can last up to 3 weeks. Or shorter if it gets cold sooner. But even a couple of days of driving via the canyons will leave you quite impressed. Sometimes to the point where you might get a little bored with seeing "yellow" everywhere! Remember, the state of Colorado has some of the tallest mountains in North America. When these giants become really yellow, it is quite overwhelming!
My favorite areas to visit in the state of Colorado during fall are in the Western part of the state. I usually start with Colorado Springs, Aspen, Ridgeway, Telluride and Ouray. Just getting to these towns requires driving on windy mountain roads, some of which, like Last Dollar Road are quite famous. Endless switchbacks, high elevation, driving near the edge of the 3 thousand foot drop are just some exciting part of the experience when visiting Colorado.
