Needle Town

I'd been in Seattle for two days chasing clouds that were supposed to hang abobe the city, and I was starting to think I'd leave without a decent capture of the city skyline. Then the clouds broke late in the afternoon, all at once, and the light came in low and gold across downtown. I found a spot with a clear viwe of the Needle and just waited — and for about twenty minutes, the city did something it apparently doesn't do often. Every building lit up in that warm, late-day color, the sky went a flat clean blue behind it, and the Space Needle stood there catching more of that light than anything else in frame, like it knew it was supposed to be the subject.
