Sentinel Tree- an ancient bristle cone pine, dating estimated 4 thousand years old (or older, no one really knows for sure). Always makes it for a great subject for artists who do traditional painted art and famous landscape photographers - who all come to photograph this tree in snow, clouds or under the starry sky with milky way as backdrop high above it.
The feeling of being in near proximity with an old living being like this can't be really put properly into words. The twisted vortex trunk of it makes you wonder how long did it really grow to become this way. It is not easy to grasp and it makes you appreciate time being on this planet more. Knowing that after you are gone, all your kids and grandkids are gone this tree will still be there for years to come through hot and cold being a witness to all that is passing by over the centuries.
