Tinsel Town
Photo Location: Santa Monica, CA
Santa Monica, Ca was my first landing spot when I first moved to California in 2005. It will always have a special place in my heart because I have spent and had some of my most exciting times in this town. From hanging out on the beach, walking up and down 3rd street promenade, which always reminded me of the street I grew up on. As well as making a special visit to Santa Monica Pier when friends were visiting from out of town. From working several jobs in the area to just meeting random people from any walk of life or anywhere in the world.
And this is why this image fascinates me the most, the way it came out... It reminded me of one of those movies where the whole population gets wiped out from the face of the earth, leaving only one or two people alive. So they roam via empty streets and building structures looking for other survivors... That is what I felt like standing in front of this pier during the 2020 lockdown. It was eerie, it was strange, and I could have never believed that this pier, which on regular day sees thousands of people, could look so sad and soulless.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do especially if you have some connection with Santa Monica, CA. I recommend it with Dark Roma frame in a rustic or industrial interior design setting or for an office
